IEEE World Forum on IoT 2019

EDGE presented the ambitious approach of the European project SPHINX to the cybesecurity in the Health sector at the IEEE 5th World Forum on Internet of Things Conference 2019 (WF-IoT 2019) that took place between the 15th and 18th April in Limmerick, Ireland.
With a scientifc paper titled “Security Assessment as a Service Cross-Layered System for the Adoption of Digital, Personalised and Trusted Healthcare”, EDGE introduced the emerging cybersecurity concepts proposed by the SPHINX System to ensure the protection of the healthcare organisations' information infrastructures as well as the privacy of the patients data. Considering a digital environment more and more exposed to cybersecurity risks and threats, the paper presents a cybsersecurity universal protection system specifically designed for the needs of the entities that operate in the Health sector. Resorting to an application case that involves patient monitoring from the patients' homes, the paper addresses the IoT paradigm and the problematics of integrating data gathered from external devices with hospital processes.
EDGE's experience with the eCare Platform in the setting-up of a rich ecosystem of devices, solutions and health mobile services, already prepared to integrate 5G technologies, has been fundamental to validate the new cybersecurity concepts proposed by the SPHINX System for Europe.
