EDGE presented a new design for a sensing platform dedicated to the seismic and environmental monitoring at the 9th Portuguese-Spanish Geodesics and Geophysics Assembly, that took place in Madrid, Spain, from June 28th to 30th.
The innovative sensing platform integrated the latest technological developments in connectivity, miniaturisation and networks and it aims to monitor the seis mic activity within a region, through the high-resolution mapping of clusters, the generation of shake maps and the fast assessment of earthquakes and the environmental risks associated with extreme weather phenomena.
The new sensors already performed a set of tests in laboratory environment and reveal a promissing performance, being able to generate a significant volume of real-time data and presenting a very low energy consumption footprint.
