9th Value Conference by APAH

EDGE’s CEO, Marco Manso, was a key spokesman at the 9th Value Conference hosted by the Portuguese Association of Hospital Administrators (APAH) from May 25th to 28th 2021. In a fully virtual format, the Conference received more than 30 spokespersons, distributed by two dozens of workshops dedicated to the growing relevance of the information and communication technologies and the digitalisation of Health, namely in the COVID-19 pandemic context.
EDGE was invited to describe its experience of success participating in European innovation projects within the Horizon 2020 programme and its perspective on the future challenges of the Horizon Europe framework programme in what refers to the generation of synergies between industry and technological partners and healthcare organisations, aside from the classical clinical studies. In this context, the highlight was given to the successful partnership between EDGE and the Hospital of Espírito Santo of Évora in the development of projects related to cybersecurity, patient remote monitoring and pre-hospital emergency in crisis situations.
Marco Manso presented the work implemented in the SPHINX European Project, with the development of a tool that allows to improve the level of cybersecurity of organisations that provide healthcare services and augment the protection of the integrity, confidentiality and privacy of the patients’ data. It was also noted the role to be performed by the eCare Platform, developed by EDGE to remotely monitor health and wellbeing parameters, as a Testbed to support the validation of the SPHINX System in the operational settings of the Hospital of Évora.
The eCare Platform was also mentioned in the context of the SHAPES European Project, which envisions the implementation of an innovative concept of integrated care for the older people, in which digital solutions function as a means to build awareness for the prevention and self-management of own wellbeing and healthcare, in order to improve own independent and autonomous living condition and quality of life. In this domain, EDGE’s eCare Platform will be one of the digital solutions supporting older people and health and care professionals in pilot activities across Europe in the next year.
