CYBERAWARE4HEALTH

On December 16th 2020, the SPHINX Project’s CYBERAWARE4HEALTH Conference was held, dedicated to the promotion of cybersecurity awareness and behaviours for healthcare professionals. Organised by the SPHINX partner the 5th Regional Health Authority of Thessalia and Stera (Greece), this Conference had the support of the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA).
CYBERAWARE4HEALTH acknowledges the importance of involving the employees of organisations that work in the Healthcare sector in the definition, implementation and adoption of contemporary cybersecurity policies and practices. Upholding a universal cybersecurity system especially designed for all organisations in the Healthcare sector, the SPHINX project has made its way into raising awareness to the need of integrating the human element, particularly employees, in the response capacity of organisations towards the growing cybersecurity challenges in the Healthcare domain.
For two and a half hours, Conference participants were able to know the most advanced cybersecurity policies in place, as well as the SPHINX methodology and tools to support information technology (IT) departments to build a cyber-resilience capability within their organisations. The Conference started with the analysis of the role of standard ISO27001 in the fulfilment of the security requirements addressed by the NIS Directive and the exercise of assessing cybersecurity risks in hospitals, with Dimitra Liveri from ENISA giving a presentation on the Agency’s publication of recommendations for the procurement of cybersecurity solutions for hospitals.
Afterwards, the speakers focused their interventions on the SPHINX System, presenting simple methods to support It departments in their daily cybersecurity control activities, and the best networked architectures to implement firewalls, antivirus programmes and backup systems. The Conference ended with insightful practical examples of how the different SPHINX tools propose to improve the cybersecurity protection of the organisations working the Healthcare sector.
This Conference was an excellent forum to disseminate the results of the SPHINX project, making IT professionals in healthcare organisations aware of current and future cybersecurity policies and practices and how the SPHINX tools allow healthcare organisations to step up on their level of protection against cybersecurity threats, risks and events.
