AIMES

In November, EDGE performed the first integration tests of the AIMES System, enabling the successful validation of the incorporation of Omnitor’s videoconference tool in the eCare Platform.
Within the AIMES Project, EDGE and Omnitor are responsible for the citizens’ dimension with respect to the implementation of the innovative emergency system bolstered with advanced multimedia, interoperability and Internet of Things capabilities. In this context, EDGE has adapted its eHealth and Ambient Assisted Living Platform, eCare, to include the functionality of multimedia emergency calls developed by Omnitor that, benefitting from voice, video and chat channels, allows universal emergency calls.
EDGE’s eCare Platform now incorporates a module for next generation emergency calls that allows its user to call emergency services by voice, videoconference and chat and to send, embedded in the emergency call, relevant health data that better informs the emergency response. Amongst these data is the information on the victim’s disabilities, chronic diseases, allergies and blood type that assist the first responders to decide on the best possible intervention and to save lives.
In the upcoming year, the AIMES System will be integrated and validate in a set of demonstrations that will reveal how the incorporation of advanced multimedia, interoperability and the Internet of Things capabilities empowers the emergency services to offer a service that is closer to the citizen and supports faster and more capable emergency response efforts.
