November 2020

As the European Project SHAPES completes a year of activity, it published the second edition of the project’s eNewsletter, presenting the most significate milestones attained: the ethnographic research, the representation of the health and social care socio-technical ecosystems in Europe, the development of personas and use cases, the identification of ethical, use rand system requirements for the SHAPES Platform and the preparation of the piloting activities through the implementation of a wide set of digital solutions that aim to improve the quality of life of older persons in Europe.
EDGE’s eCare features the SHAPES eNewsletter as a platform that allows each older individual to monitor own physiological parameters (heart rate, blood pressure, blood glucose, weight) and wellbeing factors (physical activity, sleep quality), thus owning a leading role in the self-management of the health and social care, identifying adequate daily activities to promote good health and wellbeing and improved quality of life. Owning the information of own health and wellbeing condition, the older person may decide to share this data with the medical and social care team that accompanies him/her or with its family members, helping to build a secure, tranquil and protective environment.
The eCare Platform is currently being adapted and setup for a long validation campaign in Europe, throughout which i tis expected to make a large difference in the lives of thousands of older persons, helping them to maintain and extend their Independence and autonomy, as well as to develop relevant skills to self-manage well their health and wellbeing condition.
