MAESTRA

More and more older individuals want to continue living in their own houses, maintaining their independence and autonomy for the longest period of time. In this sense, creative solutions are being looked for to support the family challenge of providing for the elderly generation the adequate safety conditions and better quality of life.
EDGE's team has developed a significant effort to ensure that MAESTRA offers a suitable response to the older individuals' needs. The monitoring of the residents' activity and mobility in-house is therefore understood as key to support an active and independent living, preventing sedentarism and the occurrence of falls. Similarly, the control of room temperature and humidity serves the creation of conditions conducing for improved wellbeing and comfort, limiting the opportunity for hypothermia and dehidration episodes because of excess heating.
Already embracing energy efficiency and optimisation concepts, MAESTRA is now attentive to the integration in home environments of the technology that, requiring minimum human intervention, can deliver better health and safety for its users, considering their own personal needs and interests.
