EDGE's Paper on the Use of Blockchain Technology in the Health Sector Accepted for the IEEE IEMCON 2019
July 2019

EDGE is one of the co-authors of the scientific paper “Blockchain-based Threat Registry Platform” that has been accepted for publication by the 10th Annual Conference IEEE Information, Electronics and Mobile Communications Technologies (IEMCON), which will occur on October 17th to 19th in Vancouver, Canada.
In the context of the European project SPHINX, this paper presents a reference architecture for a threat registry platform that uses the blockchain technology to facilitate the sharing of information about cybersecurity threats among different actors. The design of the platform ensures the integrity and availability of the shared information, as well as its compatibility with privacy requirements through the adoption of a shared service business model (Blockchain as a Service). The paper also refers how the SPHINX approach is combined with advanced artificial intelligence techniques, so that relevant information is extracted from the registered threats and is able to be applied in the improvement of the cybersecurity decision support system.
EDGE's contribution to the paper was focused on the building of the application case to validate the blockchain-based threat registry platform in the Health sector, leveraged by the work being developed as part of the SPHINX project.
