EDGE At the First AIMES Workshop
September 2020

EDGE was an active participant of the first Workshop of the AIMES Project, organised in a digital format by Omnitor on September 18th 2020. Gathering representatives of emergency services in 9 European countries and the AIMES partners, the Workshop was centred in the validation of the project’s concept, vision and ambition, establishing a sound alignment between the project’s innovation and the needs and ambitions of end-users.
Following a set of brief presentations, the AIMES partners introduced themselves, made a short overview of the project’s objectives and activities and described the context to implement the AIMES System, embedding the PEMEA technical specifications. The Workshop participants also had the opportunity to engage in an interactive session dedicated to three use cases addressed through the AIMES perspective, as well as to watch a live demo of the different capabilities brought forth by the AIMES System in emergencies. The feedback, comments and questions from Workshop participants highlighted the limitations of existing emergency systems and a dynamic dialogue emerged about the use of the AIMES System in specific situations. In a third moment, the AIMES partners collected the votes of the Workshop participants on the most pressing priorities and requirements to consider in AIMES. A broad discussion involved all the Workshop participants, coming from Belgium, Slovakia, Greece, Kosovo, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Norway, Portugal and Sweden.
In a Workshop marked by interaction and the close contact with potential users of the AIMES System, EDGE had the opportunity to validate the use case on automated emergency calls and the requirements to design an App for first responders, ensuring that the company’s contributions to the implementation of the AIMES System is highly pertinent.
