EDGE At the IEEE International Conference on Homeland Security Technologies
November 2013

EDGE was invited to present its paper on the use of social media during crisis and emergency situations at the 13th edition of the well-known International Conference of Homeland Security Technologies, organised by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, at the Westin Waltham Hotel in Boston, from 12th to 14th November 2013.
IEEE's HST is a recognised forum for presenting different perspectives on the current status of promising technological advances developed to deal with the most pressing national security concerns and improve our society's resilience capability in human and natural disasters.
Working together with the CENTRIC group at Sheffield University and companies such as Rinicom and EBR, EDGE has been contributing to identify a set of critical success indicators relating to the process of adopting social media as a privileged vehicle to interact with the public, so that the information herein exchanged may be rapidly transformed in actionable intelligence and contribute to the effectiveness of public safety organisations in times of crisis and emergency.
