AIMES Praised by the National Innovation Agency
October 2019

EDGE presented AIMES - Advanced Internet-based Multimedia Emergency Services to the National Innovation Agency (ANI) for funding, following the proposal's approval by the EUROSTARS programme. The assessment given to AIMES includes the maximum valuation of the project in the criteria of quality, impact in EDE's competitiveness and contributions to the economy and regional convergence.
Based on the PEMEA standard and adopting the total conversation paradigm, the AIMES System is a European development that will enable the interconnection between citizens and emergency services though new information and communication capabilities built upon Internet-based technologies that significantly improce the efficiency and quality of emergency response efforts. As part of AIMES, the partners will explore the integration of automated emergency calls, based on alert mechanisms from smart sensors and an intelligent Ambient Assisted Living platform, as well as the development of a mobile application for deployed emergency response teams that facilitates the understanding of the ongoing emergency and the direct communication between first responders, their headquarters and the citizen placing the emergency call.
Throughout 24 months, EDGE aims to develop and demonstrate a reference model for the next generation of universal emergency services (NG112), with superior outcomes for society.
